well i don’t know if you have wal-marts or k-marts up there but you should be able to find something within 70 dollars at one of those spots. the ugly stik salt water combo is your best bet as it isn’t too expensive but very rugged and durable.
Ask around to some of the locals and see what they are using and like it was already mentioned with your price restrictions you can go to places like Walmart and probably find what you need.
pen 500 and live sand crabs for bait. Hope I helped.
hey man for pier and surf fishing you really dont need an expensive rod by no means. i fish on a local pier here in south east ga and i have wished a few times that i had a bigger rod with me but the ones that i had did just fine. the rods that i take with me are mainly from my local walmart. i spent at most 35 dollars. and all of them are great reels. i have a couple shakespear reels sitting on a shakespear big game rod. and i also have a berkly big game rod and reel combo. all of those are from the walmart and have never given be a bit of problem. i also have 2 diawa rod and reel combos that i got from the bass pro i want to think that i payed 40 dollars for “both”.
with fishing saltwater you realy dont want to drop a pile of money into your get up unless you are going after the monsters of the deep. those big ol expensive things are designed to handle the salt in the water. the reels that i have for surf and pier fishing are supposedly saltwater resistant but i dont 100% trust that so when i get home i run it up under some fresh water for a couple mins and then i spray them all down good with wd-40.
man i hope that this helps you out a bit good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience
A bucktail jig with strip bait or Berkely Gulp sandworms is all you need for flounder.
