why do tackle boxes come with a pair of nailclippers?

To cut fishing line with; put some 1/8 inch cord through the hole in the handle to make a wrist lanyard. You’ll never drop them overboard.
I guess they figure you have to have something to do while waiting for a fish to bite. My idea of a great fishing day is to toss in my line with no bait on it, then pop a cold one and enjoy the sunshine. That’s just me though.
or get yourself one of those little retractable things to clip it to your belt or pocket. looks and works kinda’ like a tape measure but with a wire.

it’s not a pole, unless it has no eyelets for the line or a mount for a reel.
you can use these to cut the ends of your fishing line when you tie your hooks or baits on. Whole lot better than useing your teeth.
