To cut fishing line with; put some 1/8 inch cord through the hole in the handle to make a wrist lanyard. You’ll never drop them overboard.

Many fishermen attempt to clip their loose ends on fishing knots by biting it in two with their teeth. However, the heavier monofilament lines are quite tough and resist most our best bites. Also, some manufactures of fishing line post warnings on their containers to NOT attempt to bite their line in two. Spider Wire (which is not wire but woven line) is one that comes with ample warning. To alleviate damaging your teeth biting things you were never intended to, consider using the fingernail clippers that may have come with your tackle selection. If it didn’t, make it a point to purchase one to include with your gear. You’ll appreciate it and so will your dentist. You’ll be able to smile in satisfaction without being embarrassed to show the chips in your toothy grin from biting off more than you can chew. And that’s something to smile about too. ;o)

you can use these to cut the ends of your fishing line when you tie your hooks or baits on. Whole lot better than useing your teeth.
